Like all our toys, our Traffic Light Blocks are a toy that does a lot more than you might think at first glance. Not only does the natural rubber wood we use feel GREAT, they also give children the opportunity to develop their gross and fine motor skills, colour recognition/matching and stacking skills.
Gross motor - the bright colours attract attention and encourage them to reach from prone, side lying, sitting, kneeling or standing. Bending and squatting are also practised to collect the parts to replace.
Fine motor - holding only the blocks and manoeuvring them into the base will train their grasp manipulation within the palm and using wrists. Whilst stacking and balancing strengthen control.
Play functions:
- Posting both into the colour matched slots and the holes in the MURO (that’s no accident!).
- Banging the blocks together.
- Advanced stacking and balancing the blocks for 3yrs +.
- Understanding the meaning of traffic lights can form a role in pretend play, especially with vehicles and small world play.
